Interior Design Boca Raton

Such longevity is unheard of today, with fashionable design trends conspiring with software and electronics on a fast track to product obsolescence, planned or not. The Audio 1 series was designed specifically to be displayed on the 606 shelving system that Rams had developed for the furniture manufacturer Vitsœ+Zapf while working at Braun. As a testament to the value of Rams’s design, arguably one of Rams’ most successful designs, Vitsoe has produced the 606 shelving system since 1959. The original version of the 606 combined beech with off-white lacquered doors and drawers to replicate the glacial elegance of the SK4 and Audio 1/2. Through the years Rams has added to the initial system and over fifty different elements are now available to be integrated with that system. On Max Braun’s death in 1951, his sons Artur (1) and Erwin (2) assumed the company leadership until 1961.

Inspired by the brand's legacy, we've teamed up with Braun to create a collection that sees iconic Braun designs of the past through our future-facing lens. Because manufacturing precision is crucial for delivering top quality products. Each of our shavers and epilators consists of several hundred carefully assembled components. And it is only after thorough testing that our products go on the market.

Hans Gugelot was put in charge of designing radio and phone sets; Olt Alcher designed trade fair exhibition stands and communications systems for Braun, and Fritz Eichler dedicated his efforts to making advertising spots. Braun began in Frankfurt, Germany in 1921, when the mechanic and engineer Max Braun (1890–1951) founded the company as a workshop for the construction of appliances. At the same time, he began series production of the S50, the first dry foil shaver. This laid the foundations for two product divisions that have remained core segments for Braun to this day.

The speakers offer exceptional sound reproduction and contemporary functionality packaged within a heritage-style casing. Here we reflect on some of the iconic design brand's most important innovations and explore how each fulfils Braun's three core principles that were explored in the masterclass series. As part of our collaboration with Braun to mark the brand's centenary, we look back at eight influential Braun products that changed the home electronics landscape. The company was formerly a manufacturer of food processors, radios, slide projectors, Super 8 film cameras and accessories, and high-fidelity sound systems. On account of its transparent Perspex lid, this famous Braun audio device was nicknamed ‘Snow White’s Coffin’. Rams joined Braun as an interior designer in 1955, having trained in architecture and interior design.

In 1967, Braun moved its headquarters to Kronberg, Germany and the Boston-based Gillette Company bought a majority stake in Braun. In 2005, the Braun brand joined the consumer goods company Procter & Gamble as part of their acquisition of Gillette. The fusion united two companies whose “strengths, cultures and visions” complemented each other, as Gillette boss James M. Kilts put it.

Sought-after by fashionable consumers, Braun’s products were even celebrated in the work of the British pop artist Richard Hamilton, who played with the company’s logotype by replicating it in ‘Brown’ and ‘Hamilton’. Braun has been a benchmark for beautiful and functional design from its founding as an audio manufacturer in the '30s, to the debut of the S50 shaver in the '50s and including its current innovations in personal care like CoolTec dry shaver for sensitive skin. In 1965 he abandoned the glacial style that had proved so successful by replacing the pale base colour with black by coating each side of the units of the Studio 1000 hi-fi system, except the front, with anthracite-coloured structured lacquer.

Our designer introduced me to a transitional style and brought so many creative ideas and samples my way. Lighting, window treatments, and furniture were just the beginning. It’s easy to see the beauty of a home, but it’s truly special when you can feel it. Creating that experience has been the mission for the interior design team at Brown for more than 40 years, and it also happens to be the sensation you get when entering their newly remodeled showroom. A lot of people like to talk about how the iPod was a homage to this radio. And when I look at it now, it's a symbol of all the tactility I miss about Apple's first MP3 player design.

Yet he achieved much more by dint of the formal elegance and technical virtuosity of his work. Rams’ designs always looked effortless with an exquisite simplicity borne from rigorous tests and experiments with new materials and an obsessive attention to detail to ensure that each piece appeared flawlessly coherent. The aesthetic quality of a product is integral to its usefulness because products we use every day affect our person and our well-being. Create a unique, stylish environment that reflects your personality and taste – and that inspires you everyday.

When he returned to the school in Wiesbaden he became interested in architecture, influenced by professors and lecturers such as Dr. Söder, Hugo Kϋckelhaus and Professor Haffenrichter. Having graduated from the course with distinctions, in 1953 he joined Otto Apel’s architects’ office in Frankfurt. Soon afterwards, in the summer of 1955, Rams left the company for a position as architect and interior designer at Braun. As head of design at Braun, the German consumer electronics manufacturer, Dieter Rams (1932-) emerged as one of the most influential industrial designers of the late 20th century by defining an elegant, legible, yet rigorous visual language for its products.

Braun's genius is often most apparent in the simplest of its products. Of course, it’s a feat of design to simplify one of the first all-wavelength radios but to recreate something as simple as the alarm clock and still manage to elevate it is almost more impressive. The record player takes up two-thirds of the facade, with a rotating platform at the bottom-right corner. This mechanism would fit through the center of a 7-inch single and play at a speed of 45rpm. In order to bypass the need for a conventional tonearm and cartridge, which would clutter the aesthetic, the Braun TP 1’s stylus — revealed by adjusting the lever to open a sliding door — reads the record from underneath. Braun's 100th anniversary is not only about the past but is also a moment to reflect on what's to come in the future for the brand.

Another icon of modern design, but less well known, is the LE1 electrostatic loudspeaker unit (for which technological aspects were licensed from QUAD). Today, Braun focuses on its core categories (shaving and grooming, beauty, and hair care). Household small appliances, health, and wellness categories, as well as clocks and watches, are now run by other companies (De'Longhi, Zeon, Kaz) under license. In 1921, Max Braun [de] (1890–1951), a mechanical engineer, established a small engineering shop in Frankfurt, Germany.[1] In 1923, he began producing components for radio sets.

Japanese philosopher and folk-craft pioneer, Soetsu Yanagi said products should be built to last, treated with respect and even affection. It manages to combine both efficiency and gentleness into one sleek and ergonomic design bringing you a shave full of mindfulness and zen. Simplicity at its most iconic, the TP 1 looks to me like it’s straight out of Space Odyssey.

Since 2000, Braun has registered more than 2,500 patents globally – unmistakable evidence of the company’s drive for innovation. Conceived as a beautiful piece of engineering and the first record player to use an acrylic hood, it was among the first Braun audio designs produced in the modern style and set the tone for the Braun audio programme of the 1960s. In 1981, the company's audio and hi-fidelity division, which grew out of Braun's former core business of radios, turntables, and hi-fidelity audio products, was spun off into Braun Electronic GmbH, a legally independent Gillette subsidiary. Braun Electronic GmbH put out its last audio-fi set in 1990 before the business was discontinued.
